The Depths was shot in a few locations around Brisbane including the Storey Bridge, the Fortitude Valley baths and in East Brisbane. It was the first Cinema Seventy-Seven film and the first film made by David Cowan and Samuel Medley.

The film also features Natasha Koch, in her so-far, only starring role in front of camera, for Pedrera Films. She wrote and performed the score for Three AM, and has helped out on sound on other productions.
